Job Summary:

The Network Engineer supports an Air Force Language Portal and CLPM Database. Responsibilities include network configuration, server maintenance, systems disaster recovery planning and execution, backup and software patch updates, system security, on-call service supports, training support, management/configuration of storage/access/delivery capabilities, contingency planning, reporting. Monitors and controls the performance and status of the network resources. Uses software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose complex problems and factors affecting network performance. This position is seated on a government installation.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plans, designs, installs and maintains the network behind the Air Force Language Portal and CLPM Database.
  • Proactively ensures the network behind the portal is maintained and devoid of any issues or problems
  • Tests and analyzes all elements of the network facilities including power, software, security features, communications devices, lines, modems and terminals, and overall integrated network
  • Monitors and controls the performance and status of the network resources
  • Documents the design and security to support the continued ATO to include policies and procedures
  • Interacts with stakeholders to resolve issues
  • Trains stakeholders in new technologies which have become available
  • Monitors and controls the performance and status of the network resources
  • Utilizes software and hardware tools, identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance
  • Provides guidance and direction for less experienced personnel

Requirements

  • 4+ years related technical experience with 2+ years specializing in Network Engineering
  • Proficiency with CISCO products (routers and switches, ASAs)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Server configuration and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work on Unix and Linux operating systems
  • Ability to multi-task, work with a team and follow procedures
  • Strong written and oral communications skills are required
  • High level of self-motivation, productiveness and personal organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Possesses an active SECRET government security clearance w/ eligibility for TS/SCI
  • Active CompTIA Security+ or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write and speak English

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Computer / Computer Science or related field. May use experience in lieu of education.
